CULTURAL EXCURSIONS

The CULTURAL EXCURSIONS PROGRAM bring groups of children from foster agency residential programs and children residing with foster families to cultural activities including museums, Broadway and off-Broadway theatre, musical concerts, and dance performances. Family members or foster agency staff and Culture for One volunteers accompany the children. Following the event, the children and adults enjoy a good meal, discuss the event, and share ideas.

Cultural Excursions are an introduction to cultural life in New York City. They are often a “route of entry”" into our individualized art programs, and an opportunity for us to create an ongoing plan to help a child. In a typical year, we offer 60 excursions for 600 children. Excursions are arranged with our cultural resource partners, some of NYC’s premier arts venues including New York City Ballet, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Ballet Hispanico, and New York City Center.

These shows open up my mind to the vast amount of talent that’s out there in the world.
It inspires me!
